5 Reasons to Visit Maislabyrinth Wallau This Fall – Wiesbaden

September 29, 2020Samantha Juhan

Living in Wiesbaden and craving a low-key adventure this Fall? Maislabyrinth Wallau is just the place! Let me tell you why.

1. Cheap & Convenient

As a result of COVID-19, you must book your tickets online. The facility currently observes a maximum capacity of 250 visitors per time slot (to maintain COVID-19 guidelines). Having a specified time reserved in advance made our trip a breeze. We were able to visit after work on a Friday night for the 1400-1900 time slot.

Tip: You do not have to attend at the start of your ticket time. We arrived around 1700 (which gave us plenty of time to complete the maze).

Ticket prices were affordable and made for a budget friendly date night.

  • Adults (18 years and older): 5.50 Euros
  • Children, Students, elderly and disabled (with appropriate ID): 3 Euros
  • Infants/Toddlers (100cm or less): FREE
  • Dogs: FREE

2. Family Friendly

Before or after entering the maze, children can enjoy a variety of activities, such as painting pumpkins and swimming in the corn pit.

Inside the maze, the pathways are fairly large and even for the most part. I would say that the maze is stroller friendly (we passed two families navigating their strollers through the corn during our visit).

3. Dogs Welcome

As a service dog handler, dog friendly is always a bonus for me! Feel free to bring your furry pals, but be sure you follow the rules:

  • Dogs must be leashed at all times: The facility notes dogs must be “tightly led.” This means no retractable leashes.
  • Clean up after you pet (immediately): Be sure to bring poop bags as the facility does not have any.
  • No barking or aggressive behavior: You will be asked to leave the facility if your dog misbehaves.

Tip: If your dog is sensitive to screaming children, this may not be the best trip for them. Similar to a playground, there are children running around and being loud in/near the corn pit (which is in the center of the entrance area).

4. Food & Drink

Since we were running late, we only had the chance to grab a quick snack and a drink after our excursion. As frequent customers of the farm, I highly recommend trying one of their alcoholic beverages. Our personal favorite is their seasonal: Kürbissecco (aka pumpkin wine). It is sweeter than most of their secco varieties so beware of how many (as well as how fast) you drink. The carbonation allows your body to absorb the alcohol faster, which means it will hit you pretty quick.

As for food, we grabbed an easy snack: Brezel (aka a pretzel). You really can’t go wrong with pretzels in Germany.

Tip: Seasonal produce, such as pumpkins and strawberries are available for purchase at the counter. You can also find a variety of syrups, jams as well as other farm fresh delicacies to take home.

5. Compete to Win

Guess what happens if you discover all four stations hidden in the maze? You will be entered into the farm’s prize raffle! For each ticket you purchase, a card will be provided to that individual. Stamp your card at each station in the maze and return it to the ticket counter for a chance to win!

You won’t find out if you won the big raffle right away (winners are drawn later in the season), but you do recieve a congratulatory card to celebrate your completion of the maze. Compete against your pals and see who finishes first!

Tip: Complete your COVID-19 tracking form before you arrive (this is to track who is at the facility in the event that a patron tests positive for COVID-19) . This will save you a few minutes upon arrival. Click here to print your form!
