Craving a pumpkin-filled adventure this Fall? Bauer Lipp is the place to be! Let me tell you why we love it.
Crazy Cool Pumpkins
Entering the grounds, you will be greeted by a pumpkin-lined path. The best part? Every pumpkin is unique! While you’ll find traditional Jack O’Lanterns at this farm, you’ll also find a plethora of unique pumpkins. Some are spotted, some are bubbled and some are even a blue-green color.
Tip: Almost every pumpkin will have a price tag on it. See one you like? Pick it up and take it to the sales counter!
Farm Store
Our first stop was inside the farm store. The shop offers fresh produce, alcoholic beverages, homemade noodles, and more. Even if you don’t plan to buy anything, I recommend stopping inside to watch the workers make candy and bake treats at the front counter.
If you are looking for a seasonal item to purchase, I recommend the farm’s “Kürbis Secco.” It is a sweet pumpkin wine that my husband and I love. We opted to buy the mini bottles to take with us on a picnic.
Want something extra festive? Try the Halloween-shaped noodles! They are tasty and make a fun holiday meal for kids. If you aren’t interested in the Halloween noodles, there are also pumpkin noodles in the shop.
Note: Dogs are no longer allowed on property.
Pumpkin Displays
During the Fall season, Bauer Lipp holds a pumpkin event where they create themed displays out of pumpkins! It is basically a miniature version of the World’s Largest Pumpkin Festival in Ludwigsburg, Germany (Click here to read our guide).
Tip: There is a small fee to enter the event area. The fee grants you access to the pumpkin displays, play area and pumpkin-themed food stand.
Delicious Food
We’ve all heard about the pumpkin spice latte, but why not try something new this season? Bauer Lipp offers a variety of different pumpkin-themed food dishes at their Fall event. We decided to taste test a few different menu items and wow! Talk about an experience. Out of all the dishes we tried, not one was bad.
Our favorite dish had to be the “Ofenkürbis m. Dipp.” This is essentially a plate of cooked pumpkin covered in a delicious sauce. The cooks use a few different pumpkin varieties as the base. The sauce, however, is the star of the show in our opinion. The dish had a wonderful depth of flavor and every bite was unique.
If you are looking for something sweet, try this chocolate brownie. While the brownie base itself was nothing to rave about, the pumpkin drizzle on top was out of this world. I recommend that you first taste the brownie, icing and drizzle separately. After that, take a big bite of all three combined.
Tip: If you want to taste something unique, try the “Kürbiskernbratwurst.” This bratwurst is filled with pumpkin seeds!
Kid-Friendly
If you are looking for a family-oriented farm to take your kids to, Bauer Lipp is the place. They have a pirate ship playground, swing sets and even a giant inflatable jumping pillow. All the children we saw were having a blast running around and exploring the different play areas.
Photo Opportunities
While the displays inside the event are great for photos, I actually prefer the pumpkin tower area at the entrance of the farm. This area has all sorts of fun pumpkins to pose with and even purchase.
My husband was a big fan of the spider pumpkins in this area.
Animal Area
After you have visited the pumpkin displays, make a pit stop to see the farm’s animals. Located at the back of the event space, the animal area is fairly remote and hidden. You will get to see sheep, ducks, turkeys and a few chickens.
Relaxing
If you are worried about having a spot to relax and get out of the sun, don’t fret. Inside the event, there are rows of trees with tables and chairs underneath. I’m usually pretty wary of these areas (I’m not a fan of bugs bothering me), but the large trees provided a shaded and bug-free area for us to eat.
Corn Maze
Looking for a fun activity after you visit the pumpkins? Check out the farm’s corn maze! This year they are offering night walks in addition to their daytime hours. Tickets are available online. Click here to visit their website.
Convenient Location
One of the best parts about Bauer Lipp is that they are only a 30 minute drive from Wiesbaden. If you don’t want to drive and are up for a bike ride, the farm even has an area to parking your bike. It is definitely a quick and easy day trip.
